Roy’s biography

Roy Nissany was born (November 30th, 1994) in Tel-Aviv, Israel. He was raised in Europe. He gained interest in racing at a very young age and started driving go-karts professionally at six years old.

After a successful karting career, Roy stepped up to Formula BMW Junior in 2010 and achieved 6 podium finishes of which 3 were victories. At the last race of that season, Roy scored an incredible victory at the legendary Monza circuit. Starting 10th and passing the leading pair at the last corner on his way to triumph.

During the years 2011-2012, Roy raced in the ADAC Formula Masters (nowadays Formula 4). He scored multiple podiums and a heroic win at the RedBull Ring. These results proved his potential and helped secure a seat in one of the most competitive series on the path to Formula 1 – the FIA Formula 3 Championship.

In 2013-2014 Roy achieved remarkable top 10 finishes in Formula 3. It paved the way to his first taste of Formula 1 machinery – a full test with Sauber F1 Team (nowadays Alfa Romeo Racing).

Carrying his momentum, he stepped up to the World Series 3.5. He starred there for 3 full seasons, collecting trophies on each season. The greatest highlights were a double victory (2 races in 1 weekend) at Silverstone, a pole-to-flag win at Monza and a remarkable win at Jerez with extreme tyre wear.

In 2018 Roy began his Formula 2 campaign and left a mark with multiple Top 10 finishes. Unfortunately, a training injury at the begging of 2019 led to a short break of racing for rehabilitation. Yet, the pursue of success never stopped – and Roy was given a rare chance to prove himself in Formula 1 with Williams Racing. Roy seized this opportunity and managed to become a Formula 1 Official Test Driver for Williams Racing.

Roy is a citizen of both Israel and France and is currently based in Tel-Aviv. His motto is widely known as “Sky is not the limit, the mind is.”
